iSWAP!

I just signed up for MUA the other day and immediately jumped in with both feet. I'm participating in my first swap! I'm super excited about it. I'll be sure to post pics of my nail mail when I get it...

No Wesley today. Gotta wish a very special person a very happy birthday then I'm calling it a night. I have a long day tomorrow. I have to be at the venue for my sorority sister's baby shower at 8am... Ugh... I hate waking up early on the weekend...

Stay classy.

Peace... And much lacquer to you.

P.S.
Picked this up today from the dollar tree...
 I just adore anything sparkly.

Midnight Snack: Mini Haul

Wet N Wild-Jungle Fever and Correction Tape
Confetti-Ice Ice Baby

I'm doing a lot of painting for my sorority sisters baby shower on Saturday and I'm gonna be covered in paint for the next few days so I'll probably be back posting for Wesley week on Sunday... See you then...

Wesley Week: Lightening Strike 3...

Today's movie inspiration is Jungle Fever.

It's about an interracial relationship and the turmoil it causes in the lives and families of the two people involved in the relationship...
             I L O V E the way it turned out!
 China Glaze-Poinsettia

Don't mind the bandage. I have a mean paper cut...

Pretty bandages for the paper cut...
I may keep this on my nails for two days instead of my normal one...

Best part of the movie... Lol

Stay classy.

Peace... And much lacquer to you.

Wesley Week: No Lightening... Argyle Instead

So I know I said I was going to do all lightening but this really awful sweater Wesley Snipes (Caz) had on in the movie Brooklyn's Finest inspired me... Lol...
The sweater in question

The colors don't match perfectly (I didn't feel like mixing them) but you get the jist...

Wesley Week: Lightening Strike 2...

This mani was inspired by the movie White Men Can't Jump.
They wore a lot of neon colors in it...

I Guess I got my Swagger Back...

My Kindle is up and running again thanks to customer service rep Daniel at Amazon. Can you guess what I'm doing now???
That's right. Watching Wesley Snipes movies and interviews. Lol... The Kindle Fire includes free streaming on tons of movies for Amazon Prime members.
Swag.

Stay classy.

Peace... And much lacquer to you.

Wesley Week: Lightening Strike 1...

I've been watching New Jack City all night (seriously. This is like my 5th time watching it). There are several scenes where Nino Brown is wearing all black with an excessive amount of gold jewelry.
There's one particular scene where Nino and the rest of the CMB are handing out food for Thanksgiving and he has on a black trench coat with gold trim. The collar looked like a black and gold lightening bolt. It inspired me to do this impromptu zig-zag, lightening bolt mani at 3am...

Initially it was going to be just black and gold. But I added the white after watching the wedding scene. The white and black separated by the gold represents Nino's black heartedness vs. Scotty's almost angelic nature and their corresponding outfits.

Damn I love this movie!

I become mildly obsessive over specific nail designs quite often. This week, it looks like it's lightening bolts. As a matter of fact, I'm lightweight obsessed with watching Wesley Snipes movies...
So in honor of actor extaordinaire Wesley Snipes, I am declaring this Wesley Snipes Week on Food & Lacquer Too. I will be posting 7 lightning bolt manicures inspired by 7 Wesley Snipes movies too...

Cheers.

Stay classy.

Peace... And much lacquer to you.

Pink Wednesday! And Kindle Woes...

I got another order on my etsy page so I've been busy this week working and making this:

But I couldn't let pink Wednesday (I know I'm posting this on Thursday) pass me by without throwing some on my nails...

You know I'm not gonna just wear a solid color and you also know I'm not gonna wear just pink and that's it. I like how it turned out. I see a lot of people doing tape mani's but I dont have the patience for that so I just free-handed this...

Ok, I'm currently chatting with Amazon. My swanky new Kindle aint so swanky after all. It's giving me wi-fi connection problems... Boooooo!

Until then...

Stay classy.

Peace... And much lacquer to you.

Eazy Duz It: World AIDS Day

I love music. Especially rap. When Eazy-E died in 1995 when I was15, it completely floored me.
AIDS has always been a taboo subject in the rap world. And, to this day, it still is. That was the first time it really hit home. You would think a music genre heavily saturated with sexually explicit lyrics would address issues of safe sex much more often. But, alas, it does not.
I was inspired this World Aids Day and created my second ever franken polish. It is called Eazy Duz It...
It's a bleck jelly with red holographic glitter... I'll post pics of it on my nails once I use it in a mani...
It was inspired by and named for Eazy-E  I created it as a celebration of Eazy's life and in remembrance of the lives of everyone, famous or not, who succumb to this disease.
Stay safe.

Stay classy.

Peace... And much lacquer to you.

Man on Fire: Remembering James Baldwin

God Gave Noah the Rainbow sign... No more water... The Fire Next Time...
24 years ago today, James Baldwin passed away. He is one of my favorite authors. And one of my favorite books of his is The Fire Next Time...
I really wanted to do a manicure dedicated to him today but I just didnt have the time. So I'm posting a few throwbacks below that remind me of him...

In remembrance of James Baldwin: Great writer; great man...

Stay classy.

Peace... And much lacquer to you.
